Day 9

A Christmas Story

Advent9When it comes to Christmas stories, Charles Dickens is more than likely the first name to come to mind for A Christmas Carol.

Yet while the Dickensian Christmas undoubtedly began with the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge published in 1843, it did not end there.

A Christmas Carol was merely the first in a series of five Christmas stories and was followed in 1844 by The Chimes and in 1845 he published The Cricket on the Hearth.

In 1846 came The Battle of Life and finally – after a blank year – he published The Haunted Man and the Ghost’s Bargain in 1848.
