The story of Victorian computer pioneers Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage as retold by author Sydney Padua in her graphic novel The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage is out shortly and we think it’s going to be a classic.

Padua, who has been drawing the two eponymous heroes for some time in comic stories on her blog, wanted to explore what would have happened if Babbage had managed to actually finish building his first ever computer The Analytical Engine.

At the hand of Padua, Lovelace didn’t die at the age of 36, but became a pipe-smoking, poetry-shunning steampunk legend and together with Babbage built the first ever mechanical computer.

Check it out, then put in your order.
